Curriculum Vitae

I was trained at Birmingham University Medical School qualifying in 1979 (MB ChB) and after my pre-registration year I decided on a career in Psychiatry. I trained initially in Birmingham, then at the Priory Hospital, Roehampton, and subsequently at St George’s Hospital, London. I undertook research at the Medical College of St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, along with my higher training. In 1990 I became a Consultant with East Surrey District Health Authority (Redhill) with the responsibility for Adult General Psychiatry and Substance Misuse. I developed Community Services for both drugs and alcohol.

I have been in full time private practice since 1995 associated with the Priory Hospital Sturt (Walton on the Hill), the Priory Hospital Woking (Woking) and I was Medical Advisor and then Medical Director at Farm Place (Dorking), an internationally recognised Minnesota Model based addiction treatment centre.

I have worked at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green between 2005 and 2011 where I was Medical Director. I am a Member of the GMC’s panel of Psychiatric Examiners and Supervisors.

I have biased my career towards clinical activity and service development although I have published on the subject of Vexatious Litigants.
